Crafted for the connoisseur yet easy to appreciate, Zen Super Green is our most richly flavored, antioxidant-laden green tea. This tea’s vivid, glowing, jade-green infusion is created by generously coating the Sencha leaf with powdered Matcha, the legendary stone-ground tea used in the Japanese Tea Ceremony.

The brew opens with a velvety, umami flavor and crescendos with a vegetal finish. This potent blend contains a high concentration of the amino acid theanine, which is known for its ability to calm the mind, promote mental clarity and act as a natural anti-depressant.

Best prepared using water no hotter than 170°F and steeped for only 1½ -2 minutes. We also suggest cold brewing Zen Super Green for a refreshing iced tea.

The matcha powder in Zen Super Green makes this tea incredibly unique; it is made from Gyokuro, which is the most precious, highest grade of Japanese teas. Gyokuro has the highest concentration of L-theanine (one of tea’s healthiest amino acids) and is considered a natural anti-depressant and stress reliever. At the start of the first flush spring harvest, Gyokuro tea plants are shaded by large canvas tarps, preventing sunlight from reaching the tealeaves. Blocking sunlight facilitates very slow growth of the leaf and bud and prevents the natural conversion of L-theanine into catechin (a natural antioxidant responsible for the sharp, brisk, astringent property often associated with green tea). The tealeaves are kept in a slow-growing state of immaturity and are harvested at peak time—when the L-theanine and caffeine are at their max and the catechin is at its right balance. Therefore, the resulting flavor has a smooth mouth-feel with rich umami and sweet flavors and a vivid green, juicy leaf. Most remarkably, Zen Super Green gives a unique sensation of feeling to the tea drinker. The feeling one gets from drinking L-theanine is often referred to as “tea drunk.” Described as a relaxed state of alertness, Zen Super Green’s high theanine content makes it the perfect tea to inspire work and creativity.

Teas purchased in bulk by-the-pound quantities are packaged in a heat-sealed foil bag with a re-sealable zip lock. These sturdy, foil bags protect the tea's freshness and flavor.

Orders for multiple pounds of the same type of tea may be packaged together in a single foil bag. Orders exceeding 10 lbs of the same type of tea may be packaged in plastic barrel liners.

If you are ordering multiple pounds of the same tea and need them packaged in individual one-pound bags, please note this in the “Order Instructions” section during check out. Be advised that this type of packaging may not be possible for certain discounted orders over 10 lbs of a single tea.
