GYOKURO IMPERIAL
organic green tea (sample)
A treat for Japanese tea lovers! Gyokuro (pronounced yo-cuhr-oh) is one of the most expensive teas in Japan. Before harvesting, tea bushes are shaded for several weeks using bamboo tarps. Due to reduced sunlight, tealeaves develop incredible concentrations of nutrients and the amino acid L-theanine, which is said to act as a mood enhancer and is responsible for tea’s relaxing effects. This Saemidori cultivar offers a deep, vegetal sweetness with complex notes of buttered asparagus, roasted cashew, and lush, velvety, umami. Best prepared using water no hotter than 160°F, steeped for only 1½ -2 minutes.
