Our Rare and Limited series is a carefully curated selection of garden-direct, single-origin teas from around the world. Each year, we select a few outstanding micro-lots to share with you, to celebrate the range of offerings and variety within the world of tea.

Teas in this category represent the best of the best. As with sought-after wines, the country and region-of-origin, elevation, soil, climate, plant cultivars, and processing techniques create unique, unforgettable flavors that cannot be reproduced anywhere else. We air-freight these teas direct from origin in limited quantities, fresh each growing season.

In this section, you may find a Japanese green tea plant transplanted to the other side of the world and grown in the Himalayan foothills of Nepal (our Himalayan Shiiba), or a vibrant green tea shaded from the sun with canvas tarps to stress the plant and encourage development of increase chlorophyll and amino acids (Gyukuro Imperial), or an ancient tea plant with deep roots that soak up intense, flavorful minerals from the volcanic soil of phoenix mountain (Phoenix Mountain Dancong), or a clear, complex oolong tea from Ali Shan or Li Shan – two of the most expensive and sought-after tea-growing regions on earth.
