Description
Pressed into heart-shaped cakes, this tea follows the century-old tradition of creating bricks of tea for use as currency or for efficient travel by ship or camel. This tea’s sensual, easy-to-enjoy flavor releases notes of smooth wood and a delicate, velvety whisper of rose. Veiled in mystery, dark tea is a special category of aged tea from China that is seldom seen in the West and revered for its medicinal effects. Use one heart in a mug and steep briefly (1-2 minutes) or use one in a larger pot (12-20 oz) and steep 2-4 minutes.

Quick Brewing Guide
Water Temperature: 195°F
Leaf to Water Ratio: 1 heart per 8-16 oz water
Steep Time: Use one heart in a mug and steep briefly (1-2 minutes) or use one heart in a larger pot (12-20 oz) and steep 2-4 minutes.
Brewing Instructions
General Guide:
- Add tea leaves to a teapot, fill-your-own tea bag or infuser basket.
- Use 1 to 3 teaspoons (1 tablespoon) of leaves per cup (8 oz) of water. Adjust to taste.
- Bring fresh, cold water to a rolling boil, allow it to cool slightly, then pour water over tea leaves and cover.
- Infuse (steep) leaves between 2-5 minutes; 3½ minutes is a good average that works well for most tea types. Do not over steep or tea may become bitter. If you prefer strong tea, do not over steep; simply use more leaves.
- Remove bag or infuser from water or strain leaves. Enjoy!
Water Quality: Tea is only as good as the water used to prepare it. Avoid distilled or unfiltered tap water, which can limit tea’s flavor. Bottled spring water or filtered tap water is ideal.
Water Temperature: Most teas taste best when prepared with water around 195˚F (just below boiling) however, some teas require a lower temperature or they may become bitter.

If you like rose flavor, go for itMy low rating is all my fault. I'm not a big fan of rose flavoring, and it somehow did not occur to me that "rose" was anything more than simply the name of this variety of tea. I love pu-erh and came across this on the web site and just bought it without really reading about it. To my taste, the flavor was heavy and really overwhelmed the tea itself. But it's a very subjective thing, and I know the tea is high in quality, so people who like rose and black tea should like this.

New FavoriteThis is my new favorite tea. The whole "cake" idea was a little intimidating. However, it just dissolves in the strainer so... doesn't really change my process. I love the flavor- it's really awesome.

The best tea you'll ever drink.This tea is absolutely amazing, combining my two favorite flavors, pu-erh and rose! The taste is soft and contemplative, taking you on a journey into the ancient! I highly recomend you all to try this tea.

Fantastic rose flavor on a tasty ripe pu-erh heart.I didn't intentionally wait to try this on Valentine's Day but it seems a goodaday as any. The cutest tiny heart shaped ripe pu-erh that unravels into small pieces of pu-erh and plenty of tiny rose petal pieces as well. The rose flavor is certainly there in the cup. The pu-erh is definitely dark yet none of the negative pu-erh qualities at all. The third steep I really let loose for a very long time (15 minutes), and surprisingly for a pu-erh it did have a touch of bitterness. User error. But this might be the longest I've ever let a pu-erh steep. Dark enough, smooth enough, and rose enough. There is nothing to dislike in this unique offering.
