Organic black tea
Organic black tea
Description
Earl Grey is a traditional, full-bodied blend of black tea and Mediterranean bergamot. Bergamot is a citrus fruit from southern Italy that lends its flowery-sweet, citrus aroma to this classic tea. Dark and rich, yet smooth and aromatic, our Grand Earl Grey is frequently complimented as the best Earl Grey available!
Ingredients
- Organic black tea
- Pure essential oil of bergamot
This tea is USDA Certified Organic.
Origin
This Octavia Tea blend is made using a premium-quality, black tea from Yunnan, China. The essential oil of bergamot comes from Italy.
Quick Brewing Guide
Water Temperature: 195°F
Leaf to Water Ratio: 1 heaping tablespoon per 16 oz
Steep Time: 3-4 minutes
Brewing Instructions
General Guide:
- Add tea leaves to a teapot, fill-your-own tea bag or infuser basket.
- Use 1 to 3 teaspoons (1 tablespoon) of leaves per cup (8 oz) of water. Adjust to taste.
- Bring fresh, cold water to a rolling boil, allow it to cool slightly, then pour water over tea leaves and cover.
- Infuse (steep) leaves between 2-5 minutes; 3½ minutes is a good average that works well for most tea types. Do not over steep or tea may become bitter. If you prefer strong tea, do not over steep; simply use more leaves.
- Remove bag or infuser from water or strain leaves. Enjoy!
Water Quality: Tea is only as good as the water used to prepare it. Avoid distilled or unfiltered tap water, which can limit tea’s flavor. Bottled spring water or filtered tap water is ideal.
Water Temperature: Most teas taste best when prepared with water around 195˚F (just below boiling) however, some teas require a lower temperature or they may become bitter.

SpecialThis tea is so comforting. I love to enjoy it while I'm pondering life. I don't know what it is about the whole ritual of tea but it has enriched my life. I tried the Chocolate Earl Grey and it is wonderful.

Buy itQuite simply the best Earl Grey tea we've ever tasted. You won't be disappointed.
-
Best Earl GreyI have tried many teas. This is by far the best Earl Grey I've had. Great flavor and just enough bergamot.

The best Earl Grey I've ever had, by far!I was recently given a tin of Octavia Earl Grey by a good friend. This is, hands down, the best tea I've ever had. The aroma is so full and heady, and just a beautiful rich clean scent -- I find myself frequently opening the tin just to inhale. The flavor is very well balanced, the tea is smooth and mild and the bergamot is not at all harsh or too sharp -- but this is still the Earl-Greyest flavor of the Earl Grey teas I've tried. (Grocery store brands are severe disappointments compared to this.) This is a loose-leaf tea so it can be brewed to any strength. The cut of the leaf is a nice large & uniform size and it's not at all dusty: very very few tiny particles escape from the holes of my tea infuser. I like it so much I buy it now by the pound, which comes to substantial savings. I couldn't recommend this more highly.

Best tea I ever drankThis is the best and most wonderful smelling tea I have ever had. The price is right because it lasts a long time.

SuperbThis is excellent tea, and I love that it's organic. I am an Earl Grey fan and haven't bought another brand of this kind of tea since I discovered Octavia's.
-
Best Ear Grey tea I have foundThis is the best earl Grey tea I have found, it has a rich flavor with complex citrus and floral notes. All you have to do is smell the tea to know it is different, other teas are boring by comparison.

I wasn't a fan of Earl Grey till I tried Octavia's Earl Grey, LOVE IT!I had tried other Earl Grey teas from other suppliers, but didn't care for it until I tried Octavia's Earl Grey, several years ago. I was an instant fan. This blend and their Wintermint (now Chocolate Mint), and their Pomegranate teas are what sold us on selling Octavia Tea from the very beginning. Even if you think, as I did, you don't like Earl Grey, you just haven't tried the right Earl Grey. Octavia is spot on with their Earl Grey! LOVE IT!

Buy this Earl Grey!I've been an Earl Grey drinker since my first trip to Europe 15 years ago. This is by far the best due to it aroma and freshness, and the taste is just what you hope - no bitterness. Brew correctly and you will be more than satisfied. This is not the typical you buy in a box in the store ---- it will change your appreciation for Earl Grey.

It is a great start to my day!As the other reviewers say, it is the best Earl Grey tea on the market. It has a rich, complex flavor with a wonderful floral aroma that is heavenly.
-
A delicious enough bergamot on a strong base!I'm very picky about my Earls but this one passes the test. The base tea is robust and strong. But the bergamot is also strong, doesn't waver in the face of this strong base! I like the strong citrusy aromatic bergamot here. My favorite Earls need to have the distinct base tea battling a tough bergamot and this Earl definitely does that. My absolute favorite Earls need to have a cream flavor, but I will admit this isn't supposed to be creamy anyway. The photo of the tea looks like a Yunnan with occasional golden leaves, but my sample had no gold at all and was a pure black tea. The description does mention the base tea being Yunnan. I'm not sure if my sample still is... if I had to guess I'd say it was Assam. I'd probably like bergamot better with Assam rather than Yunnan anyway. Both steeps were delicious and full of flavor.

Best earl grey out thereThis is the best earl grey I have come across over years of drinking earl grey teas. This is it for me, there is no better. The perfect balance between strong black tea and bergamot, not perfumy at all like some other brands.
